Left Brain - Right Brain

So you don’t think you’re creative, and you think you might need some help? Creativity seems to come easily to some people, whereas it’s a struggle for others.

However, I believe that everyone can learn how to be creative. The goal of this blog is to take creativity and use it to “explode” into ideas for content for our Web sites. With this valuable content written for our target audiences, link popularity will come. After all, Web sites want to link to sites that are rich in content, to sites that are updated frequently with new and fascinating content, and to sites that are unique and unlike the thousands of other sites out there. Using creativity, we can accomplish that goal. It opens windows for us that would ordinarily be closed through traditional search engine optimization or technology. That’s why I call it the “missing element” in SEO.

To think creatively, however, we must learn to think with the right side of our brain. Search engine optimizers and techies are traditionally left-brain thinkers. We think logically and rationally, but we have to think creatively and freely, not using logic, when we brainstorm for ideas. If we try to think rationally, we’ll curtail our creative process and it won’t work.

What we’ve been talking about so far on this blog is using the right side of our brains to brainstorm for ideas for content on our Web sites.

At this point, though, it’s time to teach my process for creativity to help you learn how to think more creatively. I call this my 12-Step Creativity Program. It will help those who don’t think they’re creative, and it will help those who are left-brain thinkers learn to break out of their thinking patterns so they can learn how to brainstorm for ideas for their own Web sites.

You may think some of the ideas in this 12-Step Program are radical, but do them anyway. Uncross your arms, take a deep breath, and get ready to learn. When you studied SEO, it was new to you as well. You didn’t understand why some of the 200 different ranking factors for Google made a difference, but you still studied, because your online business was that important to you.

My challenge to you is this. Don’t you want to be different from all of the other online businesses who sell the same products or services that you sell? Don’t you want a Web site that is a living, breathing entity that almost works on its own to produce content and link popularity? Don’t YOU want to have an authoritative Web site? Do you want to work hard at getting link popularity, or do you want it to come naturally to you?

Creativity can accomplish all of these things for you and more, but you have to learn how to use it. The 12-Step Creativity Program will show you how.

It begins tomorrow. See you here.

Robin

P.S. Look at the left/right brain graphic. Click on it to see the larger version. Notice how some people are sitting really close to the bridge. Others are on the bridge between the two sides of the brain. Others are clearly on either side of the brain. Ideally, we want to strive for balance. Lee Woods has explained it so beautifully here. I’ll let him do the talking. Read his comments under my original post.

[…] Another idea is to take our 12-Step Creativity Program. This will help you as you “learn” how to become more creative. […]

Creativity comes from Right brain. Not from left brain intellect or thinking. To engage our right brain withuot training or much practice..it either takes a good meditator or you can actually train your brain using what I have used:
