About Robin Nobles, Martin Preece, and the Idea Motivator

Who is Robin Nobles?

Robin Nobles has a background in business, but she’s always had a passion for writing. When staying home to take care of her young children, she started her fiction writing career. She’s had several short stories published and has won several contests with her writing. She’s written three fiction books that are gathering dust in her desk.

She drifted into nonfiction when she began writing newspaper columns for a series of newspapers across the Southern states. She self syndicated two columns for ten years. For several years in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Robin freelanced for several magazines and begin reviewing Web sites for a couple of online companies.

In 1998, she was asked to write and teach a course in online marketing. Before beginning the research for the course, she was asked to write a course in “Web positioning,” which is what search engine optimization was called at that time. The course was connected with FirstPlace Software, which was Brent Winter’s company (creator of WebPosition Gold software).

Web positioning was in its true infancy, so Robin first had to teach herself the concepts before she could teach anyone else. Up until this time, there were no training courses in the industry either online or offline. The course didn’t teach students how to use the software–the course taught students how to compete in the search engine rankings. Robin was the first online search engine marketing instructor on the Internet.

Robin worked for that training company for a year or two, then formed her own company, the Academy of Web Specialists, with partner Terry Plank. The Academy taught online search engine courses through the OnlineWebTraining domain. The company closed its doors after four years, and Robin formed a new company with partner John Alexander in 2002.

Robin and John began teaching on-location workshops in 2002 on the SearchEngineWorkshops.com domain and have been teaching them ever since. They still teach the online courses through the OnlineWebTraining.com domain. Robin has taught thousands of students the concepts of search engine marketing strategies both online and in on location workshops and seminars. They formed a new company in 2005 called Search Engine Academy where local territories are being set up across the US and Canada for trainers to teach their workshop material. Therefore, students won’t have to travel as far to learn SEO strategies.

You’ll see an RSS feed listing the upcoming dates of our SEO workshops on the main page of the Idea Motivator.

Robin currently has two print books on the market, both on the topic of search engine marketing. One is titled Streetwise Maximize Web Site Traffic, and the other is Web Site Analysis and Reporting.

Robin Nobles writes monthly articles for some of the leading publications online, and she’s spoken at conferences and conventions around the world, such as the RE/MAX International Convention, the CENTURY 21 International Convention, workshops taught through the University of Southern Mississippi, the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s Convention, Travel Trade Magazine’s Passport to Profits Conference, Search Engine Strategies Conferences, and the 8th Electronic Directories Conference in Cannes, France. She also teaches workshops through Search Engine Workshops once a month in North America.

Robin’s specialties include writing, creativity, search engine optimization, right-brain thinking, and article marketing.
